agranulocytosis



A blood condition in which the bone marrow produces inadequate numbers of granuloctyes (white blood cells that eliminate bacteria). It is a rare complication of certain drugs and systemic diseases. Severe throat infections and sepsis are common; antibiotics are the mainstay of treatment.
