clubroot
A plant disease affecting cabbages and other members of the mustard family (Cruciferae). It is caused by the slime mold Plasmodiophora brassicae. Club-like bodies form on the roots. Clubroot is avoided by growing resistant plant strains and adding lime to the soil.
