Carnegie ObservatoriesThe astronomy department of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, DC. It operates the Las Campanas Observatory in Chile, the main observatory for American astronomers in the southern hemisphere. The Carnegie Observatories has its main office in Pasadena, California, and a smaller office, serving the Las Campanas Observatory, in the Chilean coastal city of La Serena.
