Chyba, Christopher
Professor in the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Princeton University.
Much of Chyba's current research lies in astrobiology, including the investigation
of a putative ocean on Europa from an
orbiting spacecraft, water and organic molecules on Mars
both past and present (see Mars, water;
Mars, life), and the environment of the
prebiotic Earth (see Earth, primitive conditions).
He earned his Ph.D. at Cornell University
under the supervision of Carl Sagan and featured
in Time magazine's December 1994 cover story "50 for the future".
