Cody, Samuel Franklin (1862–1913)



American-born pioneer aviator. In 1896 he went to England where he subsequently took out British citizenship. He experimented with man-lifting kites and helped to plan and build the first British dirigible or steerable airship. In 1908 he built in his airplane. He was killed in a flying accident.
