A planet that, like Jupiter, is massive and orbits its host star in a nearly circular orbit at a distance of several astronomical units. Extrasolar planets fitting this description include the companions of 47 Ursae Majoris, rho1 Cancri A and, if confirmed, Lalande 21185.
