ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE)

A colorless, flammable, oxygenated hydrocarbon ((CH3)3COC2H5) blend stock formed by the catalytic etherification of isobutylene with ethanol. ETBE has characteristics superior to other ethers: low volatility, low water solubility, high octane value, and a large reduction in carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions.
