An extreme Population I star is the youngest type of star, characterized by high metallicity and a location in the galactic disk, especially in spiral arms, near the site of recent star formation. Examples include T Tauri stars, OB stars with associated HII regions, and stars newly arrived on the zero-age main sequence.
