fibrillation




Rapid, uncontrolled beating of part of the heart muscle. Atrial fibrillation is seen in a number of conditions, including rheumatic heart disease, atherosclerosis, and hyperthyroidism. Ventricular fibrillation, which occurs mostly after a heart attack, cane be fatal.
