General Catalogue of Variable Stars (GCVS)



A list of all known variable stars, first published by the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1948. The fourth edition, identifying 28,435 stars, came out in three volumes in 1985-87. A companion catalogue of suspected variables is also produced, the most recent edition being the New Catalogue of Suspected Variable Stars, with 14,810 objects, in 1982.
