Holbach, Paul Henri Dietrich, Baron d' (1723–1789)
French encyclopedist and materialist philosopher, best known for The System of Nature (1770), published as by "J. B. Mirabeau," which included a scathing attack on religion. Holbach translated many scientific articles for Diderot's Encyclopedie.
