Hunter, John (1728–1793)




John Hunter
Scottish anatomist and surgeon who worked with his brother William (1718–1783) on the lymphatic system, the course of the olfactory nerves, and the coagulation of blood. In the 1760s, John Hunter was the first to ligate (tie off) an artery.
