hypodermic syringe




A surgical instrument for injecting fluids beneath the skin into a muscle or blood vessel. It comprises a graduated tube containing a piston plunger, connected to a hollow needle. The while is provided sterile – free from microorganisms – and must be resterilized after use. Many hypodermic syringes are disposable: designed to be used once and thrown away.
