low-temperature collector A metallic or nonmetallic solar thermal collector that generally operates at temperatures below 110 degrees Fahrenheit and uses pumped liquid or air as the heat transfer medium. Low-temperature collectors usually contain no glazing and no insulation, and they are often made of plastic or rubber, although some are made of metal.
