methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE)





A colorless, flammable, liquid oxygenated hydrocarbon ((CH3)3COCH3) that contains 18.15 percent oxygen and has a boiling point of 55.2°C. It is a fuel oxygenate produced by reacting methanol with isobutylene.
