magnetic quantum number
The magnetic quantum number is one of the four quantum numbers that characterize the electron configuration of an atom. The magnetic quantum number ml labels different orbitals within a subshell. It can take on values from -l to +l. The number of orbitals in a subshell is the same as the number of possible m values.
