medical diagnostic techniques

Doctors today can call upon a variety of sophisticated techniques to help them reach an accurate diagnosis. Major advances have been made in the development of imaging techniques that provide detailed pictures of internal organs, and fiber-optic endoscopes that enable doctors to look directly into many parts of the body without any need for open surgery. Also of great value in diagnosis are numerous biochemical, immunological, and microbiological tests, as well as techniques of genetic analysis.
