New Millennium Program

A NASA program focused on the development and validation in space of advanced technologies that will be routinely used aboard unmanned spacecraft in the early part of the 21st century. Prototype scientific instruments, communications equipment, computer systems, and propulsion units will be tested during a series of actual space missions which will return data of relevance to understanding how the planets formed and life evolved. The first three missions in the Program are Deep Space 1, the failed Mars Microprobe Mission (Deep Space 2), and the New Millennium Interferometer.
