    naked-eye star

    A star visible without a telescope or other optical aid, except for spectacles or contact lenses. In principle, the naked-eye limiting magnitude is about 5.5. However, what can actually be seen with the naked-eye depends upon the individual, the location, and the conditions of the observation.
