A symbol, or combination of symbols, that describes a number. Arabic numerals are the 10 digits from 0 to 9. Roman numerals, as normally used today, consist of seven letters or marks (I=1, V=5, X=10, L=50, C=100, D=500, and M=1,000). The formation of numbers from numerals depends on the number system used.
