oval
A curve that looks like a squashed circle but, in contrast with the ellipse, doesn't have a precise mathematical definition. The word oval comes from the Latin ovus for "egg." Unlike ellipses, ovals sometimes have only a single axis of reflection symmetry (instead of two).
