# Pearls of Sluze

The Pearls of Sluze are curves that are generated by the Cartesian equation

*y*^{ n} = *k*(*a* - *x*)^{ p} *x*^{ m}

where *n*, *m*, and *p* are integers. They were first
studied by the French mathematician René de Sluze (1622–1685) between
1657 and 1698 and were named the Pearls of Sluze by Blaise Pascal.
