paleogeography

The science that studies ancient geography. It seeks to determine the physical and biological conditions of the Earth throughout geological time. Paleogeography also seeks to determine how conditions in one period led to conditions in the next and succeeding periods. Much of the data needed for good analysis is lacking, and most studies in this area are general.
