pyrrhotite
A bronze-brown iron sulfide mineral with the niccolite structure, occurring in basic igneous rocks in Scandinavia and Ontario. Pyrrhotite is nonstoichiometric with composition Fe1-xS. Improved smelting techniques now make it possible to extract the iron.
