American science fiction writer now remembered infamously for the conspiracy-oriented "Shaver Mystery" tales, presented as fact, which Raymond Palmer published in Amazing Stories (1945-7). In these, Shaver describes a hidden underground world of warring Deros and Teros – "deranged" and "integrated" robots – whose extraterrestrial ancestors had lived on the lost continents of Atlantis and Lemuria.
