Solar- (Japanese satellites)



The prelaunch designation of a series of satellites built by Japan's ISAS (Institute of Space and Astronautical Science) to study the Sun and its effect on Earth's environment. See Yohkoh (Solar-A) and Hinode (Solar-B). Note: by the time Hinode was launched in 2006, ISAS has become part of JAXA.
