    Strieber, Whitley (1945-)

American novelist and former advertizing executive whose book Communion: A True Story (1987), which attracted a $1 million advance, purportedly recounted the author's experience of alien abduction discovered under hypnosis a year later. More revelations of sinister extraterrestrial goings-on followed in Transformation: The Breakthrough (1988). Together with co-author Art Bell, he inspired the blockbuster movie The Day After Tomorrow, about sudden, catastrophic climate change. His latest novel, The Grays (2006), is the story of a conspiracy involving the presence of extraterrestrial intelligence on Earth.
