salinon

salinon
A figure formed from four connected semicircles. The word salinon is Greek for "salt cellar," which the figure resembles. In his Book of Lemmas, Archimedes proved that the salinon has an area equal to the circle having the line segment joining the top and bottom points as its diameter.
