solar rotation numberA parameter used by solar observers in describing their data. The system starts, for historical reasons, with rotation #1 on November 9, 1854, and a new rotation begins when the solar central meridian is equal to zero (that is, the Sun has made one apparent rotation). This takes, on average, about 27.275 days. Related category SOLAR TOPICSAlso on this site: Encyclopedia of Alternative Energy & Sustainable Living Encyclopedia of History |
