SMART-1
ESA's SMART-1
A form of electric propulsion in which the electrical energy used to accelerate the propellant comes from a solar power source, such as arrays of photovoltaic cells. XIPS engines, such as those aboard NASA's Deep Space 1 and ESA's SMART-1, utilize solar-electric propulsion.
