Parts of a mature flower.

The stamen is the organ of a flower that produces the pollen. A stamen usually consists of an anther, in which the pollen is produced, on the end of a stalk-like filament. Collectively, the stamens make up the androecium. The arrangement and number of stamens is important in the classification of angiosperms (flowering plants).
