UX Orionis

The prototype for a class of pre-main sequence stars ("UXORs") which may eventually evolve into Beta Pictoris-like systems. Photometric, spectroscopic, and polarimetric studies indicate that UXORs have circumstellar disks seen edge-on which may be in the protoplanetary stage.
