cylix

A Greek ceramic drinking cup with a wide bowl, extensively used from Mycenean times through the best years of Athenian vase painting. The shape varied from the squat early Corinthian cylix of the 6th century B.C. to the tall and graceful Athenian cylix with its simple black-figured decorative band. Most later cylixes bore representations of dancing and drinking scenes.
