Hallstatt

A term referring to the late Bronze Age and early Iron Age in Western and Central Europe, from Hallstatt, Austria, where there is a prehistoric cemetery and salt mines which have been in constant operation since 2500 BC. It was characterized by extremely fine, decorated pottery, though the quality deteriorated toward the end of the period.
