Andante is a tempo indication that a piece of music is to be played at 'walking tempo' (from the Italian andare, to walk) – faster than adagio but not as fast as moderato. It corresponds to a metronome range of 76 to 108 beats per minute. Andantino (the diminutive of andante) can imply a tempo either faster or slower than andante. The word 'Andante' is often used as the title of a composition.
