laminate trimmer
A laminate trimmer is like a small router. It is a light, one-hand tool, powered by small (3-4 amp) motor, that is specially designed for trimming laminate. The bit has a ball bearing that rolls along the surface while the cutter cuts the edge off. A typical laminate trimmer is equipped with a 1/4-inch collet. The motor runs in the 20,000-30,000 rpm range – faster than most routers to compensate for the fact that the bits are smaller in diameter.
