Solar Two

Solar Two

Solar Two was a retrofit of the Solar One project. It demonstrated the technical feasibility and power potential of a solar power tower using advanced molten-salt technology to store energy. Solar Two retained several of the main components of Solar One, including the 300-foot central receiver tower, turbine, generator, and the 1,818 heliostats arranged on 72 acres in Daggett, California. It successfully met all of its objectives, and the key U. S. industry participants in the project are now involved with a commercial solar power tower project in Spain.
