Claudius II Gothicus Marcus Aurelius (214–270 AD)
Roman emperor (r.268–270). He decisively defeated the barabarian invaders of Italy in 268 and the Gothic invaders of the Balkans in 269. As a consequence, he was given the name Gothicus ("Conqueror of the Goths").
