denudation

Denudation is the wearing away of land by weathering and erosion. It is a broad term and includes all the natural agencies such as sun, rain, wind, rivers, frost, ice, and sea, as well as heating and cooling, freezing and thawing, solution, abrasion, corrasion, and corrosion. In addition to weathering and erosion, the removal of material, that is, the transportation, is also part of denudation. Together with deposition, denudation is the major process which creates the Earth's landscape.
