Phanerozoic era

The Phanerozoic era is the whole geological span of time that has elapsed since the end of the Precambrian period up to the present day. It is the eon of visible life – the period of time represented by rock strata in which fossils appear, running from about 570 million years ago through to the present and containing the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic eras.
