scat

Scat, or scatting, is a type of singing using nonsense syllables in a style that imitates instrumental improvisations (notably those of a saxophonist or trumpeter) commonly used in jazz. Frank Sinatra's famous "doo-be-doo-be-do" is an example of scatting (see bop). Ella Fitzgerald was a master of this singing style.
