Auger, Pierre Victor (1899–1993)


Pierre Auger
French physicist who discovered the Auger effect, a change in an atom from an excited to a lower energy state with the emission of an (Auger) electron. He became director general of the European Space Research Organisation (ESRO) in 1962.
