Archaeopteryx



Archaeopteryx
A fossil bird that is thought to be the ancestor to all other birds, and to be a link between birds and reptiles. It is known from rocks of the Jurassic period, about 160 million years old, and has a long tail like most reptiles, but feathers like all birds. Archaeopteryx belomgs to the group Archaeornithes.
