Bateson, William (1861–1926)
British biologist who founded the science of genetics.
Bateson translated much of Grogor Mendel's
pioneering work of inheritance in plants, so bringing it recognition. By
hos own experiments he also extended Mendel's theories to animals, which
provided a foundation for the modern understanding of heredity.
