Charles Tilston Bright

Charles Bright was a British engineer who helped to develop submarine telegraph cables. In 1856 he became engineer-in-chief of the Atlantic Telegraph Co. and in 1858 supervised the laying of the first transatlantic cable from Ireland to Newfoundland. With the engineer Joseph Clark he also invented an asphalt covering for submarine cables.
