Brown, Robert (1773–1858)

Robert Brown
Robert Brown was a Scottish botanist who first observed Brownian motion (1827) and who identified and named the plant cell nucleus. In 1801 he joined an expedition to sail around Australia on HMS Investigator. During this voyage he collected thousands of plant specimens many of which were new to European naturalists.
