biochips

Living cells rely on tiny electrical signals to work. Scientists believe that by redesigning cell structures they can use living material to process data in the way that a computer chip does. That is one form of biochip. The other is the tiny conventional microchip that can be linked to organic material to control its growth and operation. Another name for this science is molecular electronics.
