Vernier calipers
Source: Wikipedia

Devices used in measuring. Simple calipers comprise a pair of metal legs, pivoted about a shared screw at one end, the other ends being turned inward (for outer dimensions) or outward (for inner dimensions). They are usually used in conjunction with a ruler. Vernier calipers resemble a sliding wrench and incorporate a vernier scale.
