cystitis
Inflammation of the bladder, usually due to infection. Cystitis is a common condition in women, sometimes precipitated by intercourse. It occasionally leads to pyelonephritis, or upper urinary tract infection. Burning pain and increased frequency of urination are usual symptoms. Antibiotics are often needed. Recurrent cystitis may suggest an underlying disorder of bladder or its nervous control.
