Darby familyA family of English ironmasters. Abraham Darby (1677–1717) pioneered iron smelting using coke rather than charcoal. His grandson Abraham Darby (1750–1791) built the world's first cast-iron bridge over the Severn River at Ironbridge, Shropshire.
